Hydenlyne are currently recruiting Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) Operators. These individuals will be working on board a research vessels for 4-6 weeks rotations (project dependent).

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Acoustic monitoring of species of concern and implementation of mitigation measures as per project requirements
  • Recording of detections and completing of detection logs
  • Set up, operation and troubleshoot of PAMGuard software
  • Set up, operation and troubleshoot of PAM equipment
  • Ability to detect and localize protected species
  • Communication with MMOs on watch
  • Inform parties on board about detections, activity, and compliance with project and local regulations
  • Providing daily, weekly and end of project reports.


  • Degree or research experience in marine biology, oceanography, environmental sciences, earth sciences or similar
  • PAM Operator or PAMGuard training certificate
  • Strong decisive skills
  • Experience using PAMGuard
  • Ability to assemble, deploy and configure PAM equipment
  • Minimum 8 weeks experience working as a PAM Operator
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in multicultural and multinational environment
  • Ability to work individually as well as a part of a larger team.
